Great books that would make great movies? Jan Karon’s Mitford Series immediately come to mind. They would make an awesome chick flick. Or two.

However, it’s possible that what makes Mitford so great is the fact there is no movie…just books with which to curl up and have tea. Plus, who would play Father Tim and Cynthia? Can’t think of anyone!

Another thing that makes the Mitford series so great is Father Tim’s rich inner life. That probably wouldn’t translate very well to screen.

Both Terry Blackstock and Dee Henderson have written some great mystery novels that would be amazing movies. Possibly too violent for Christian movie makers and too Christian for secular movie makers, though. Kirk Cameron would make a good leading man, however, and Chelsea could play opposite him in any of these books. They’d do particularly well with Dee Henderson’s O’Malley series prequel, where the main character is protecting a famous writer, and they gradually fall in love over the course of the book. I could see Dwayne Johnson in one of Henderson’s Military Heroes books.

Most of the great classics that would make great movies already have been made into movies. Many of them more than once!  (Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, Anne of Green Gables, etc., etc. )
