The other day, I was taking Nikki–our cute, annoying, funny golden retriever pup–for a walk. Now, keep in mind, we live in an Alaskan rain forest. So, yep. Tons of puddles.
Splashing in the ocean is one thing, but drinking from muddy puddles is quite another. I kept having to pull her away from those puddles. There was a fresh, clean water bowl waiting for her at home, full of clean water.
It made me think about how many times I want to drink from the dirty puddles of life: sin, selfishness, greed…
But God has fresh, clean, Living Water for me.
Lord, may I splash with joy in your pure Living Water–in the vast ocean of your love–rather than amuse myself in dirty puddles.
–For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17
–Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?” John 14: 10-11
–Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33
–As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9
(Now, could someone explain why Nikki loves splashing that fresh, clean water in her water bowl ALL OVER THE KITCHEN FLOOR? Please? I’d be forever grateful.)
